Packing Tips for Aruba

Medications

I always travel with my trusty weekly pill containers and leave the original prescription bottles at home.  If you feel safer, you can take a picture of each prescription for reference, but in my experience, I've never been questioned about it!

What to Wear in Aruba

Aruba is super casual—leave the fancy clothes at home!  One of the things I love most about the island is how laid-back it is.  You can go straight from the beach to dinner and still look totally appropriate (at some places).

Swimsuits with cover-ups are completely acceptable at beach bars, and you’ll see plenty of people dressed this way.

Pro Tip:

Bring less than you think—you won’t wear half of it! If you’re going to pack extras of anything, let it be swimsuits and cover-ups.

For women, sundresses, capris, shorts, tanks, and cute tops are perfect for just about any occasion.  Toss in a light jacket, sweater, or wrap for dinner in case you run cold or get a bit too much sun.

Casual sandals, wedges, or even flip-flops work great.

For men, shorts or lightweight pants with a short-sleeved shirt—collared or not—are totally normal.  Flip-flops, sandals, or tennis shoes are all fine, too. To my knowledge, no restaurants in Aruba require men to wear pants.

If you’re staying in an private vacation rental, try to find one with a washer and dryer so you can pack even lighter!  And if not, no worries—there are laundromats all over the island.  If you’ve rented a car (which I highly recommend), doing a quick load of laundry is easy.

The Essentials!

Insulated cups to keep your drinks cold at the beach or pool.

Insulated water bottle to keep that delicious Aruba water cold!   I bought this before I went last rip and it was a GAME CHANGER.  The straw is amazing and I tripled my water intake this last trip!

Reusable (thick) straws as they only use paper straws on island

Reef Safe Sunscreen (anything w/o Oxybenzone or Octinoxate)

Insulated bag for groceries and to bring drinks and food to the beach!

Gallon ziplocks and chip clips to keep snacks fresh

Carbon Monoxide Detector.  I travel with this one

Float for pool or beach, I'm OBSESSED with my Water Hammock!

Towel Clips-Aruba is windy!

Snorkel gear so you can beach hop all over theIsland and not have to worry about renting it.

Water shoes for rocky beaches and natural pool I love these & they're unisex!

Beach bag (plus a smaller one for inside for keys, wallet, phone, money, etc). Obsessed with this bag!

Sunglasses (x2) in case you lose a pair in the water or they break

Good books for the beach!  Or a waterproof, Paperwhite Kindle

Flip Flops

A Happy Attitude😎

Respect for the Island and it's people!
