Local Markets & Shopping in Aruba

IMG_7634.JPG

Exploring the local markets in Aruba is such a fun way to soak up the island’s culture and find some one-of-a-kind goodies you won’t see in the souvenir shops.

From handmade crafts and jewelry to fresh fruit and baked goods, these markets are full of color, energy, and local flavor—and your purchases support hardworking local artisans and farmers.

Pro Tip:

Bring a reusable bag and some cash!  Most vendors accept U.S. dollars(smaller bills) or Aruban florins, and while a few might take Venmo, Apple Pay, or cards, cash is still the easiest way to shop and make sure you don’t miss out on that thing you have to have.

Artisanal Crafts and Souvenirs around Aruba

Throughout Aruba, you'll find smaller markets and stalls offering artisanal crafts and souvenirs.

From hand-painted ceramics to locally made candles, soaps & jewelry, these markets provide a chance to purchase gifts that capture the essence of Aruba.

Many of these items are crafted with materials sourced from the island, making them truly special keepsakes.  You can find them all over at hotels throughout the week!

Saturday Mornings at STR Farm: Farmers Market + Alto Vista Bistro

If you’re looking for an authentic local experience in Aruba, Saturday mornings at the STR Agricultural Farm in Noord are a must. From 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the farm transforms into a lively market filled with fresh island goodness, tasty bites, and hidden gems you won’t want to miss.

 Farmers Market Finds

Stroll the stands and stock up on locally grown produce like bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, and more. You’ll also find fresh fruit—watermelon, cantaloupe, bananas, mangos—depending on what’s in season.

Be sure to grab some fresh-baked bread and the frozen shrimp (they’re massive and delicious at just $20/lb). You’ll also come across homemade sauces, local sweets, artisan jewelry, and unique island-made items that make great gifts or souvenirs.

 Alto Vista Organic Bistro

Tucked right on the farm is Alto Vista Bistro, a casual outdoor eatery serving up some delicious food. Their porchetta sandwich is legendary—juicy, perfectly seasoned pork piled onto fresh ciabatta with a house-made sauce you’ll be dreaming about later.  It’s big enough to share, but you may not want to.

Other favorites include their cheesy lasagna (we always grab one to-go and reheat at home—30 minutes at 325°F, feeds two!), slow-cooked brisket, lamb, and savory skewers.  Portions are generous, and the menu changes often so there’s always something new to try.

You can sit outdoors and enjoy a relaxed brunch at the farm, or take your food to-go.  They also sell cold drinks and local Chill beers—because nothing pairs better with porchetta than an ice-cold Chill.

 Pro Tip:

Bring a bag for your goodies and some cash, as not all vendors accept cards.

How to Get to STR & the Organic Bistro

Turn at Café 080 and follow the road for about a mile.

Once you pass Central Restaurant, keep an eye out for the sign on your left for STR Farm. Turn Left.  Drive about 2 blocks.  You can park inside the gates or along the dirt road outside.

Farmers Market: Saturdays only, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Alto Vista Bistro: Saturdays: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Sundays: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

High End Shopping

If you’re in downtown Oranjestad, don’t miss shopping at Renaissance Mall—right across from the marina.  It’s Aruba’s premier luxury shopping destination, with designer boutiques like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Cartier, Tiffany & Co., and more all under one elegant roof.

What’s even better:  you don’t pay local sales tax inside many of the shops there, which means you can often score better prices on high-end goods.  Just keep in mind: you’ll need to declare anything over your home country’s duty-free limit when you return.

Where I Love to Shop in Aruba

One of my favorite things to do in Aruba—besides soaking up the sun and floating in the turquoise sea—is browsing the local shops and boutiques scattered across the island.

Whether I’m looking for cute vacation outfits, practical beach gear, one-of-a-kind souvenirs, or even fine jewelry, Aruba has some seriously great spots to shop for yourself or pick up gifts for others.

Besides the above, below are a few of my go-to stores that I visit regularly and truly love. Most are locally owned or island favorites, and I’ve had nothing but great experiences at each one!

D Shop

This is hands-down one of my favorite spots to shop for myself—and it’s especially great for the ladies!

D Shop has a huge selection of clothing, including plus sizes, swimsuits, coverups, shoes, accessories, and resort wear galore.

I always walk out with something cute (or several things!).

It’s perfect when you want something stylish and affordable without walking through a mall.

In Eagle beach close to SuperFood Plaza.

The Lazy Lizard

If you’re staying near Eagle Beach, definitely pop into the Lazy Lizard at Alhambra Shops.

This store is full of fun, practical, and affordable souvenirs.  They carry Aruba t-shirts and sweatshirts that are actually great quality (no stiff cheap tees here!), plus cups, towel clips, hats, flip-flops, insulated tumblers, and more.

I always find great gifts here—and usually end up grabbing something for myself too.

Eagle Beach, Alhambra shops

The Juggling Fish

jugglishfish.JPG

These two side-by-side shops are tucked beachside at the Playa Linda Resort in Palm Beach and are some of the nicest souvenir shops on the island.

One is dedicated to swimwear (hello, last-minute bikini shopping!), and the other is a souvenir boutique packed with tees, sweatshirts, flip-flops, jewelry, and other quality finds.

Everything feels thoughtfully curated and better quality than your typical souvenir stand. Definitely worth a visit!

Touch of Gold

If you’re in the mood for something a little more sparkly, Touch of Gold is a total gem (literally!).

Located in Downtown Oranjestad, this jewelry store has the kindest staff ever—they treat you like family.

We’ve bought watches, rings, earrings, and necklaces from them, and I wear mine all the time.

I even bring my pieces back when I visit, and they’ll clean them for me on the spot.   They offer great pricing and gorgeous, timeless pieces that make wonderful keepsakes or special gifts.

Tradewinds

Another go-to for cute resort wear and vacation finds is Tradewinds Boutique.

You’ll find dresses, suits, coverups, shoes, bags, jewelry, and other fun giftable items, all at super reasonable prices.

I’ve found some of my favorite flip-flops, sundresses, and beachy accessories here.

I especially love the locations inside the Hilton and downstairs at the RIU Antillas—they seem to have the best selections!

We the Beach People + Tangerine

Located at the Harbor House Shops in downtown Oranjestad, We The Beach People is a minimalist’s dream.

All of their merch—t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, mugs, and cups—features their clean, simple branding: “We The Beach People.”

No beachy graphics, just crisp, modern designs that speak for themselves.  It’s a great spot for picking up sleek souvenirs or gifts that feel effortlessly cool.

Within We the Beach People is Tangerine, owned by the same amazing husband-and-wife duo—and this spot is bursting with creativity.

One of the standouts here? Ash makes beautiful hand-sewn bags using vibrant, colorful fabrics that totally capture the spirit of Aruba.

Each one is unique and full of character!

Bula Surf Shop

Just steps away from We the Beach People and Tangerine at Harbour House is Bula Surf Shop.

A laid-back surf and lifestyle shop with cool tees, hats, flip-flops, sunglasses, and other beach essentials for both men and women.

Their vibe is effortlessly cool, and they carry top brands like YETI and Vans, along with local designs that perfectly capture that relaxed island energy.

Whether you’re grabbing a new pair of shades or browsing their beach-ready gear, it’s hard not to find something you love here. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and it’s an easy, low-key stop while strolling through downtown Oranjestad.
